C-USA TO HOST FOOTBALL SEASON PREVIEW VIDEO CONFERENCE
New Format Provides More Efficient Media Day Coverage

 
IRVING, Texas -- As part of week-long activities to kick off the 2009 Conference USA football season, C-USA will host a video conference featuring all 12 head football coaches, along with select student-athletes, on Thursday, July 30.

The video conference will begin at Noon Eastern, 11 a.m. Central, with coaches and student-athletes available on their respective campus in 15-minute windows. Media and fans will both be able to view the football kickoff video conference for free through the C-USA All-Access Network on the league’s official website: www.ConferenceUSA.com. The call will be moderated by Rich Phillips, who is in his ninth season as the “Voice of the SMU Mustangs.” A complete schedule is as follows:

“We expect this format will allow more media to be able to participate in our annual preseason football media activities as well as provide a more efficient way to cover the conference,” C-USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky said. “This format caters not only to our print media, but also allows audio and video footage for our radio and television outlets and extensive multimedia opportunities.”

C-USA has partnered with SKC Communications, a Kansas City based company, to oversee the video and teleconferencing needs of this event. SKC will serve as the “bridge” to all 12 campus sites as well as a headquarters site for the moderator and C-USA staff in Irving, Texas.

Conference USA Football Kickoff Week opened Monday as 11 head coaches participated in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl Golf Classic, benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Commissioner Banowsky will also be available via teleconference on Wednesday, July 29. The 2009 Conference USA Interactive Football Guide will debut this week, and the C-USA Preseason Football Team and Preseason Players of the Year will be announced. The week culminates on Friday with an 8 p.m. EDT/ 7 p.m. CDT national telecast of the C-USA Kickoff Preview Show on CBS College Sports.

During and after C-USA Football Kickoff week, ConferenceUSA.com will continue to serve as a one-stop shop for football information and the other 18 conference-sponsored sports. The website will offer video highlights, interactive sport guides and links to social media like Facebook and Twitter.
