SKC Communications has an opening on our Integration team as an AV Fabrication Technician.  This is a great opportunity to join our team.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

The below is a basic general overview for AV Operations Fabrication Technician.  The position requires the minimum skill level of the Tier 1 – AV Integration technician. SKC uses a Tier Progression chart that determines what tier level certain skills fall into.  During the interview process a skills test may be required.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  1. Build AV Integration racks to SKC standards (rack and stack, rack wiring, terminating, power on test, configuration, and code loading).
  2. Monitor and assist in the assembly and wiring of racks including terminating, looming and commissioning.
  3. Ability to read schematic diagrams and building drawings.
  4. Coordinate EQ releasing & consumables from warehouse.
  5. Document and record all required information for rack build project documentation.
  6. Set up of completed racks in test area ready for full functionality testing and staging of systems
  7. Perform all setup and firmware upgrading of all rack equipment.
  8. Assist in the code loading, testing, and commissioning of completed racks.
  9. At a minimum must complete all competencies for AV Integration – Tier 1.
  10. Must also be able to understand basic networking, perform firmware update process, load control code to various manufacturer products, and capable of performing basic commissioning task.
  11. Need to be able to act on instructions from a supervisor alone or as a part as a team.
  12. Responsible for organizing and cleanliness of the fabrication area and SKC warehouse.
  13. Provide any and all necessary support to all field operation teams (To include, but not limited to: Shipping tools, CCS, EQ, & performing local deliveries, etc.).

SECONDARY MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  1. Follow all SOP’s designated by the Director of Field Operations and Regional Managers.
  2. Assigned tasks are regularly completed within the budgeted time, & performed to meet or exceed quality standards established at SKC.
  3. Assigned tasks relating to rack build and job site work are maintained in an organized and clean manner.
  4. All terminations are performed in accordance with system diagrams, both in-house and on-site.
  5. Field work tasks including rack assembly, equipment placement and equipment mounting are to be performed in accordance with system diagrams, both in-house and on-site.
    1. System cabling is performed in accordance with system diagrams, both in-house and on-site.
    2. Work with Lead Field Engineer to complete all phases of installation projects.
    3. Equipment external to racks is installed and custom panels or products are fabricated as directed by Lead Field Technician or Project Engineer.
  6. General knowledge of construction & AV industry.

*Field work may be required as needed.

*This position requires that all warehouse rules, processes, and safety guidelines are followed. 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience

  1. 1-3 years or work experience in the networking, low-voltage/electrical, or AV industry.
  2. General knowledge of construction, low-voltage or AV industry.
  3. Ability to read schematic diagrams and building drawings.

     Education

College/Technical degree preferred

The employee must be able to regularly lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift 75 pounds. Specific vision acuity requirements include close vision, depth perception, and color recognition. This person will frequently be required to be on step ladders up to 12’ and extension ladders to 26’.  Occasional use of a man-lift up to 40’ will also be required.
